October 2-3, 2019 - Interregional workshop on conflict of interest management in invasive alien species management practices
The interregional workshop on conflict of interest management in invasive alien species management practices was hosted by the Bucharest - Ilfov Regional Development Agency (ADR-BI) and lasted 2 days. The first day of the workshop, October 2, 2019, took place at Club Snagov, Ilfov County, and its second day, October 3, 2019, took place at Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest, bringing together both project partners and parties interested in the region.
The workshop was based on a document with guidelines, distributed to project partners, on how to identify situations where the implementation of invasive species management policies will lead to conflicts of interest, while suggesting ways to address these types of conflicts (eg awareness raising, compensatory measures, regulation).
The first day of the workshop was divided into 2 sessions, the first session being dedicated to stakeholder presentations addressing all aspects of conflicts of interest in invasive species management practices, the second session being dedicated to the site visit, which consisted of a tour in the area of Snagov Lake in order to present the local invasive species.
The second part of the day was dedicated to the site visit, which consisted of a tour of the nelumbo nucifera infested area on Lake Snagov, where participants were taken by boat to see nelumbo nucifera spread throughout the lake. Mr. Constantin Turmac, the representative of the Snagov Foundation, provided the guide for the participants.
