AgroRES - Investing in Renewable Energies for Agriculture
AgroRES Newsletter No.2 - In this issue: successful and inspiring practices on renewable energy use and production found from our partner regions.
AgroRES Newsletter No.1 - In this issue: Introduction to project and its partnership, kick-off meeting in Extremadura, stakeholder group engagement and upcoming activities
AgroRES is a project developed in partnership with eight regions, from seven member countries of the European Union, funded through the INTERREG EUROPE Program, with the aim of improving specific regional policies aimed at encouraging the production and use of renewable energy in the agricultural and rural sector.
Renewable energy - solar, wind or biomass and agricultural waste, is an excellent opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint generated by the agricultural sector, which represents an important greenhouse gas emitter from the Bucharest-Ilfov region. The AgroRES project thus aims to contribute to the development of the processes of production and use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector, from the rural area, through the development of measures to improve the policy instrument chosen, in this case, the Regional Operational Program. Its optimization will, in fact, lead to the encouragement of investments in renewable energy production and use systems in the sector, thus contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint generated, in accordance with the objectives of the European Union in this field.
The project runs from August 2019 to January 2023 and includes the following partners:
- Extremadura Energy Agency, AGENEX - Spain - Partnership leader
- Lubelskie Voivodeship - Poland
- Devon County Council - United Kingdom
- Regional Council of North Karelia - Finland
- Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency - Romania
- ARSIAL - Italy
- Institute of Technology, Sligo - Ireland
- Northern and Western Regional Assembly - Ireland
In order to meet the objectives, the partners will work closely with the stakeholders identified in the implementation regions and will promote the public dialogue between all the stakeholders to identify and overcome the barriers that stand in the way of developing the renewable energy field, following the intensification of investments in this sector in a way. sustainable, economically viable and socially responsible. All this will be possible both by conducting the regional meetings and during the visits organized as part of the learning process, within the project.
The total budget of the project is 1,540,286 euros, of which the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency’s budget is 153,770 euros.
